Mini-Biographies:

Rufi Thorpe was born in Texas and moved to Southern California at the age of six, a region that would later become a foundational setting for much of her work. She skyrocketed to critical acclaim with her 2014 debut novel, “The Girls from Corona del Mar,” which was long-listed for both the International Dylan Thomas Prize and the Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize. Her other novels are “Dear Fang, With Love,” “Everyone is Happy,” and “The Knockout Queen,” the latter of which was a finalist for the prestigious PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction. Her most recent work, “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” (released in 2024), continues her career-long exploration of the messy, visceral realities of womanhood and family.

Eva Anderson was born on December 19, 1980, in Los Angeles, California. A versatile writer and producer, she has built an impressive career in television comedy and drama, most notably serving as a writer and producer for the critically acclaimed series “You’re the Worst.” Her extensive credits also include work on “Comedy Bang! Bang!,” “Briarpatch,” “A.P. Bio,” “WeCrashed,” and “Interior Chinatown.” Most recently, Anderson has taken on a prominent role as an executive producer and writer for the Apple TV series “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” collaborating with David E. Kelley on the adaptation of Rufi Thorpe’s novel. Additionally, Anderson co-wrote the immersive alternate-reality game “Arcana,” which was named one of the top ten games of 2020 by the Los Angeles Times.
