At the Napa Valley Film Festival, SIDEWALKS host Veronica Castro talks to writer Gren Wells, who made her directorial debut with “The Road Within.”

Mini-Biography:
Also an actress, Gren Wells has sold over twenty feature film and television programs. As a writer, she wrote “A Little Bit of Heaven,” “Spy Vs. Stu,” “The Road Within,” and “Cover Girl.” In 2014, Variety named her one of the “10 Directors to Watch.”

Vincent, a young man with Tourette’s syndrome, faces drastic changes after his mother dies. Because his politician father is too ashamed of the disorder to have Vincent accompany him on the campaign, Vincent is shuttled off to an unconventional clinic. There he finds unexpected community with an obsessive-compulsive roommate and an anorexic young woman, and romance eventually–and uneasily–follows. The film stars Dev Patel, Robert Sheehan, Zoe Kravitz, Kyra Sedgwick, and Robert Patrick.
