In Memoriam: Rob Reiner

In Memoriam: “Sidewalks Entertainment” had the honor to have two interviews with the filmmaker / actor, Rob Reiner.

Rob Reiner (2004 Interview)

In 2004, SIDEWALKS ENTERTAINMENT host Cindy Rhodes had a phone interview with filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner about his show business career and First 5 California, an initiative that he created, engineered, and chaired, which focused on early childhood development in the Golden State. Here now is the first of two interviews we had with him, as we remember the late filmmaker and actor.

Rob Reiner (2014 Interview)

10 years later, “Sidewalks Entertainment” had a second interview with the filmmaker and actor about his amazing career and his film, that he was promoting at that time, “And So It Goes.” From 2014, here’s host Cindy Rhodes again with Rob Reiner.

Mini-Biography:

Rob Reiner (1947–2025) was an actor, director, producer, and dedicated political activist whose extensive career spanned over five decades in Hollywood. He first rose to prominence starring as Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the classic sitcom “All in the Family,” earning him two Primetime Emmy Awards. In his early part of his career, Reiner worked as a television writer for “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour,” where Steve Martin was his writing partner. He also had minor guest roles on shows like “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Batman,” and appeared in his father’s film, “Enter Laughing.” Through his co-founded company, Castle Rock Entertainment, Reiner directed a string of culturally iconic films, including the landmark mockumentary “This Is Spinal Tap” (1984), “The Princess Bride” (1987), “When Harry Met Sally…” (1989), the Oscar-winning thriller “Misery” (1990), and “A Few Good Men” (1992). Outside of entertainment, he spearheaded initiatives like California’s Proposition 10 (the California Children and Families Act) to fund early childhood development, which led to the creation of First 5 California (where he also chaired), and co-founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights. Tragically, Rob and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found deceased in their Los Angeles home on December 14, 2025.
