The director talks about his latest feature, “The Hunting Ground,” a documentary film that focuses on the sexual assaults at U.S. campuses, the cover-ups and the social toll on victims and their families. Produced by longtime filmmaking partner Amy Ziering (“The Invisible War”), the film follows survivors as they pursue their education while fighting for justice — despite harsh retaliation, harassment and pushback at every level.

Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Kirby Dick is known for directing documentary films, as well as writing, producing and editing. While winning awards from film festivals, like the Sundance Film Festival and Los Angeles Film Festival, Dick also has received Academy Award nominations for Best Documentary Feature for directing 2005’s “Twist of Faith” and 2012’s “The Invisible War.” His first documentary feature, “Private Practices: The Story of a Sex Surrogate,” was released in 1986. Some of his other projects include “Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist,” “Chain Camera,” “Derrida,” “This Film Is Not Yet Rated,” and “Outrage.”
