`Sidewalks` is honored
to interview the
Academy Award®-winning actor
Born in Yonkers, New York, Jon Voight has
been entertaining moviegoers for more than 30 years.
He became a household name with his Oscar®-nominated
role as Joe Buck in the classic feature film, 1969's
“Midnight Cowboy.”
An acting legend whose portrayals of everything from
Franklin Delano Roosevelt in “Pearl Harbor” to Noah
in “Noah’s Ark” to Howard Cosell in “Ali,” Jon won
an Academy Award® for his performance as Luke Martin
in "Coming Home." Some of his film roles include "Bratz:
The Movie" (2007), "Transformers" (2007), "The
Legend of Simon Conjurer" (2006), "Glory Road"
(2006), "Pope John Paul II" (2005), "The Five People
You Meet in Heaven" (2004), "National Treasure"
(2004), "Varsity Blues" (1999), "Enemy of the State"
(1998), "The Rainmaker" (1997), "Most Wanted"
(1997), "Anaconda" (1997), "Rosewood" (1997),
"Runaway Train" (1985), and "The Champ" (1979).
In this
August 2007 interview, host Cindy
Rhodes speaks to
the versatile actor about working in the business
for over three decades, how films have changed since
he started, and what he considers is his signature
role.
As part of the promotional tour, Jon talks about
“September Dawn.” Set against the 1857
backdrop of the controversial Mountain Meadows
Massacre of 120 men, women, and children traveling
through Utah, the motion picture tells the story of
a group of Mormons, many disguised as Paiute
Indians, who slaughtered all but 17 small children
on a wagon train on its way to California.
