Joe Theismann
NFL superstar quarterback Joe Theismann first
rose to football fame playing quarterback for the
University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish where he was
a runner-up for the Heisman Trophy in 1970 and holds
the school record for most passing yards in a single
game for which he was inducted into the College
Football Hall of Fame in 2003.
In 1974, Thesimann joined the Washington Redskins as
the punt returner, becoming the starting quarterback
in 1978 and leading the Redskins to victory in Super
Bowl XVII.
Since becoming one of the most legendary and famous
quarterbacks in NFL history, Theismann served as
ESPN's Sunday Night Football commentator from
1988 to 2005 and was the commentator for Monday
Night Football in 2006. Additionally, he opened
Joe Theismann’s Restaurant in Arlington, Virginia as
a way to tackle his culinary interests and passion
for delicious food and good company
