Born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, actor Billy Bob
Thornton is an Academy AwardŽ-winning American
screenwriter, actor, director, and singer.
He wrote, directed, and starred in the film "Sling
Blade." The screenplay won an Academy AwardŽ for
Best Adapted Screenplay, a Writers Guild of America
Award, and an Edgar Award. His performance in the
film received him Oscar and Screen Actors Guild
nominations for Best Actor.
