Mini-Biography
Born in Chicago and the fifth of six children in an
Irish-Lithuanian family, John C. Reilly is an
award-winning actor, known for both comedy and
drama.
Studied at the Goodman School of Drama, John's first
film role came in 1989 on the Brian De Palma drama
"Casualties of War." This was followed by
appearances in a wide array of feature films like
"Days Of Thunder," "Shadows And Fog," "We're No
Angels," "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," "Hoffa,"
"Georgia," "Dolores Claiborne" and "The River Wild."
He became noticed with performances in "Hard Eight,"
"Boogie Nights," and "Magnolia."
For his standout performance in the Best
Picture-winning musical "Chicago," John received
both Oscar® and Golden Globe nominations for Best
Supporting Actor. During that year, hey starred in
two other Best Picture nominees, Martin Scorsese's
"Gangs Of New York" and Stephen Daldry's "The
Hours."
His other film credits include: "Walk Hard: The
Dewey Cox Story," "The Good Girl," "Talladega
Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby," "Step Brothers,"
"Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's
Assistant," "A Prairie Home Companion," "Dark
Water," "The Aviator," "Criminal," "The Perfect
Storm," "For Love of The Game," "Never Been Kissed,"
"Anger Management," "State of Grace," "The Thin Red
Line," and the animated film, "9."
