Mini-Biography

Dubbed as “one of the 20 Most Influential Women in Sports” by “Women’s Sport and Fitness” Magazine and “one of the world’s sexiest athletes” by “ESPN”, Gabrielle Reece skyrocketed to fame in the 90s as the most famous volleyball player in the world.

Born in California and raised on St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands and St. Petersburg, Florida, Gabrielle attended Florida State University where she shattered volleyball records and was lauded by “Elle” Magazine “one of the first most beautiful women in the world,” eventually being inducted in FSU’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Having graced the covers of such prestigious magazines as “Sports Illustrated for Women," “Women’s Sports and Fitness,” “Travel and Leisure Golf,” “Outside,” “Elle,” “Shape,” “Self,” “Harpers’ Bazaar,” “Volleyball,” “Vogue,” “Fitness,” “Life,” and “People.”

A Women’s Beach Volleyball League star whose team took first place at the first-ever Beach Volleyball World Championships in 1997, Gabrielle competed again in professional volleyball in the summer of 2007 when she was five months pregnant as a way of inspiring women to stay in shape during their pregnancy.

Hosting her own health and fitness videos “Bell Express 15” Workout Kits and “Gabrielle Reece Fit and Healthy Prenatal Workouts” DVDs, Gabrielle’s fitness tips have also been found in the pages of “Shape” Magazine where she was a monthly contributing editor and also on “InsiderTraining” on “FitTV”/”Discovery” where she went behind-the-scenes to give an insider look at professional athletes’ exercise regimens and what they eat. The co-author of a book about her life as a professional athlete entitled “Big Girl in the Middle,” Gabrielle is also a former columnist for “Women’s Sports and Fitness” and a former contributing editor to “Elle.”

In addition, Gabrielle was a featured host every year on “ESPN” and “Gravity Games” as well as “MTV Sports” and “The Extremists with Gabrielle Reece” and was a commentator at the 1998 Goodwill Games.

Married to professional surfer Laird Hamilton, Gabrielle has also graced the silver screen as a physical trainer in “Gattica,” a professional volleyball player in “Cloud Nine,” and a guest star in “North Shore.”
