She became a star
at the age of 18
Born in
Baltimore, MD, Mýa spent her childhood in
Washington DC. In 1998, she debuted with the
platinum CD “Mya”, which yielded three top-ten
singles.
She followed with “Fear of Flying” in 2000, then
teamed up with Christina Aguilera, Pink
and Lil’ Kim for “Lady Marmalade” on the
“Moulin Rouge” soundtrack. That effort won her a
Grammy® in 2001 for Best Pop Collaboration.
In 2002, Mýa appeared in “Chicago”, which earned her
a SAG award for Outstanding Performance by the Cast
of a Theatrical Motion Picture. She released
“Moodring” in 2003. Mya has also appeared in “Havana
Nights”, “Shall We Dance” and the soon to be
released “Cover.”
