Best known on the charts as a rapper, David Banner is also a hip hop music record producer, record label executive, and philanthropist.

Born in Jackson, Mississippi, David was a member of the rap duo Crooked Lettahz in 1999 before turning solo. His first major record label release was "Mississippi: The Album," which went gold and had success with the CD's lead single, "Like A Pimp."

In the summer of 2005, host Rafael Siegel interviewed a very conversational David following a hip hop concert event in Santa Clara, CA. In Part 1 of the interview, he talked about starting his career, while Part 2 primarily focused on his CD at the time, "Certified."
