Rafael brought celebrity interviews to Sidewalks from both sides of the Coast

Rafael Siegel appeared on Sidewalks Entertainment on two different occasions … with two different last names.

The then-Rafael Hernandez, who is now using his real last name Siegel professionally, joined the show in 1994 as a production crew member, but quickly put his face in front of the camera. He soon became one of the several on-air personalities, after appearing briefly in some episodes and his own remote segment called “Street Beat,” where he did “man-on-the-street interviews.” He stayed with the show until the original run ended (Sidewalks returned a year later with other hosts).

Following his appearance on Sidewalks, Rafael went on to other “entertaining” properties. He interned with Paramount’s Entertainment Tonight, appeared on TV shows like Sony Pictures Television’s The Ricki Lake Show and MTV’s Who Knows The Band, and created and performed in his own boy band called U-N-I. When he moved east, he choreographed and background dance for a Delaware pop group. Additionally, Rafael has been announcing for several minor league hockey and baseball teams, including Delmarva Shorebirds (single-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles), Sacramento Rivercats (triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s), and Philadelphia Phantoms (minor league team for hockey’s Philadelphia Flyers).

From 2003-2004, Rafael Siegel returned to Sidewalks and was doing interviews and comedy bits from the Atlantic Ocean side. In 2005, he returned to Northern California and joined the regular hosts. Since returning to the show, Rafael has interviewed actresses Kelly Preston, Peri Gilpin, Kelly Rowan and Melinda Clarke of The O.C.; singers LaToya London, Heather Headley, hip hop master Wyclef Jean, Kelis, and rock band Adema, and rap performers Gang Star, 24K, Rosco P. Coldchain, and Youngbloodz.

During his tenure with Sidewalks, Rafael appeared on other television projects, including Medium Rare (a San Francisco movie review program), KMAX – CW31′s Good Day Sacramento morning series, and Host Hunt (a finalist on KQCA – My58′s talent competition). In 2007, Rafael and friend Dawn Dais hosted their own radio show called TBA Radio. In 2009, he became a co-host for the TV magazine series, The 916.

In late 2010, Rafael became a host on PoshTV. Currently, Rafael is on hiatus from Sidewalks.
