Meet Maaika Westen, a new host for the entertainment project
Maaika Westen joined the Sidewalks Entertainment on-air team during the summer of 2008.
She is no stranger to being in front of the camera. At age 16, Maaika was the co-creator and host of her own local cable show called Fresh Take. The popular series featured exceptional young people and round table discussion on important topics pertaining to youth.
During the last couple of years, she has been a correspondent for the San Francisco movie review TV program, Medium Rare, where she interviewed actors and directors, such as Parker Posey, Academy Award winning director Florian Henckel Von Donnersmarck, AnnaSophia Robb, and Connie Nielsen to name a few. In addition, she experienced Red Carpet interviews, including the Academy of Friends and the Museum of African Diaspora Anniversary Gala.
As far as she can remember, Maaika has been a connoisseur of the performing arts and entertainment industry news. You can always find her huddled around the TV when the Academy Awards®, Golden Globes®, or the Grammys® are on the tube. Some of her interests include national and local politics, art, films, health, IT technology and music. When Maaika is not working, you can find her exploring the city and spending time with her friends and family.
For her Sidewalks Entertainment debut, Maaika has interviewed the cast of the award-winning documentary “American Teen” and actors Steve Coogan, Kerry Washington, Emile Hirsch and James Franco.
