A behind-the-scenes look at the art of audio mixing in films

For years, Buddy Saleman has been known for his work producing artists and bands. Feeling that music and film have become inseparable, he opened Potrero Post, a fully functional audio post-production facility in San Francisco, CA.

In this special package produced and written by Digital Film Arts' Jai J. Noire for Sidewalks, the piece follows Saleman and his creative team at Potrero Post as they work with filmmaker Anjan Lall on his forthcoming science fiction feature film, "Eye on You."

The segment explains what is known as ADR [Automated Dialogue Replacement] in films and how the actors' dialogue and music is mixed perfectly together in post-production.

For "Eye on You,"
Potrero Post has done the sound design and surround mixing, while Saleman has written the score. Clips of "Eye on You" courtesy of Lall and Maglev Pictures.
