"Sidewalks" talks to Sandler and Cheadle about "Reign Over Me"

On Tuesday, March 13, 2007, the city of Berkeley, California became Hollywood for one night when the stars and the director of “Reign Over Me” came to the city across the bay from San Francisco.

Part of a special college tour of the film, lead actors Adam Sandler (Saturday Night Live, “Click,” "Spanglish”) and Don Cheadle (“Hotel Rwanda,” Traffic”) and the film’s director and writer Mike Binder (“The Upside of Anger”) made a red carpet appearance at the Landmark Shattuck Theatre, as well as a Q&A session with the students from UC Berkeley, who viewed a sneak preview of the film.

In the Columbia Pictures’ film, former college roommates Charlie Fineman (Sandler) and Alan Johnson (Cheadle) meet up again by chance on a Manhattan street corner. Five years after losing his family on 9/11, Charlie – once a successful dentist – has retreated from his life, and Alan is stunned to see the changes in his formerly gregarious friend. At the same time, Alan – who should be enjoying his beautiful wife, children and career – is overwhelmed by his responsibilities. Their rekindled relationship becomes a lifeline for the two men, who are both in need of a trusted friend at this pivotal moment in their lives.

Sidewalks correspondents Natalie Manuel and Eve Galazin, along with executive producer and occasional host Richard R. Lee and videographer / Sidewalks On The Corner Blog writer Justin Langston, had an opportunity to do
brief interviews with Sandler, Cheadle and Binder. The piece also features some of the fans waiting for the stars arrival.
