Bringing the Chipmunks to life
Host
Rafael Siegel interviews the people behind the
Chipmunks franchise, producer / voice / owner
Ross Bagdasarian, Jr. and his wife Janice
Karman, who
provides Theodore's singing voice in the film, "Alvin
and The Chipmunks."
In 2007, with Twentieth Century Fox, Ross produced
the box-office hit movie featuring computer-animated
Chipmunks and a live-action David Seville, portrayed
by Jason Lee (TV's My Name is Earl).
Ross provides Alvin's singing voice in the film
while actors Justin Long, Matthew Gray
Gubler and Jesse McCartney portray the
voices of Alvin, Simon and Theodore respectively.
The film also stars David Cross (Arrested
Development), Jane Lynch ("Anchorman")
and Cameron Richardson (Point Pleasant).
In the April 2008 interview, Ross and Janice tell us
about the creation of the Chipmunks by Ross' father,
the late
Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. (stage name David
Seville); how they make the Chipmunks voices; and
the DVD release of the blockbuster movie, "Alvin and
The Chipmunks."
According to Variety, "Alvin and the Chipmunks" on
April 1, 2008 became the fastest-selling DVD of the
year, selling more than 2.6 million discs in its
first day in stores.
