Thursday, August 10, 2006, San Francisco Bay
Area radio
station KBLX (102.9) celebrated its morning
show's 16th anniversary with a private
party at Kimball's Carnival at Jack
London Square in Oakland,
CA.
KBLX on-air personality
Kevin Brown
has been the host of the FM station's
early shift since 1990. From 5 to 9 AM,
Brown and his on-air partners (Nikki
Thomas with news and Joe
McConnell with traffic reports)
welcome over 400,000 radio listeners
every morning.
Brown's fans and
KBLX staff celebrated the program's longevity
at Kimball's with live performances by R&B singers
Javier,
Donell Jones and
Freddie Jackson.
Brown,
who is also
the program director of the Urban Adult
Contemporary radio station, is involved
with many local causes and
organizations, including UNCF
Walk-a-thon in Oakland, the American
Cancer Society's Making Strides Against
Breast Cancer in San Francisco, and the
Calling Out Names of Children Who Wait
Ceremony for the Oakland Adoption
Providers. Additionally, he has also
served on the board of the American Red
Cross San Francisco Chapter.
