Editor's Notes: "Sidewalks"
on-air personality Dee Jones is one-half of the singing group, Dee &
Jay. Yes, we are playing favoritism here, but these two are really
good. If you like the vocal talents of Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle,
Chaka Khan or Barry White, then you are going to instantly love Dee and
Jay. I have seen these two perform over the years, and their act is really
strong and amazingly polished. As you will read in their press release,
these two are "musical tour guides" bringing you the sounds of
R&B and Motown like the pros. If you live in the Northern California
area or going to visit soon, definitely check out these two LIVE on stage!
Hailing
from Chicago, Illinois, Dee & Jay are an exciting rhythm and
blues vocal duo and disc jockey team.
Dee is an electric singer/dancer with vocals rich in gospel flavor reminiscent
of the great divas that first put rhythm and blues on the map. Her unique
style and choreography certainly "tells the story" when this
duo takes stage. Jay is the other half of this sparkling team. His deep,
syrupy rich baritone voice perfectly compliments Dee's. He is also a songwriter
and master of blending harmonies.
Dee and Jay have performed as a duo and disc jockey team in various
bands and vocal groups from Chicago to the San Francisco Bay Area, including STB (Simply The Best), Power
Play, and the James Mosley Band.
They also perform as an amazing vocal and "DJ" team, singing
"old and new school" crowd favorites to recorded tracks while
interspersing funky DJ music on the breaks. This duo's amazing and diverse
vocal abilities allow them to perform a wide range of music from the 50's
through the 90's -- and undoubtedly well into the millennium.
Dee & Jay are, in a sense, "musical tour guides," taking
the audience on a lyrical journey full of heartfelt tunes and energizing
dancing. Whether your favorite song is one by Aretha Franklin or Barry
White, Billie Holiday or Englebert Humperdinck (and nearly everything in
between), Dee & Jay will take you there.
