Brian
Bland
Former special correspondent Brian Bland started on Sidewalks
in 1995 as a production crewmember with duties
ranging from camera operator to floor manager
Brian got his first taste at hosting during an
episode shot in Berkeley, CA. "The host we
had assigned on that certain episode was having
a little trouble doing solo standup," says
executive producer Richard R. Lee,
"so we added Brian to act as a co-host to
make it a little easier on her. He did a pretty
good job for his first time. You can tell he
enjoyed the spotlight."
After
that first unscheduled appearance, Brian got
other opportunities to make some guest
appearances on the program, including co-hosting
two Holiday Toys Guide Specials (with
host Dee Jones) and The Backstage at
Bay Area Music Awards Special (with Cindy
Rhodes). Recently, he interviewed Christian
recording artist Rachael Lampa, and, at
the 1999 California Music Awards, two popular
rap/hip-hop stars Dr. Dre and E-40.
His biggest trill so far was his 1998 segment
where he got an opportunity to interview and
meet one of his favorite actors…Danny
Glover.
Brian's final appearance on cable Sidewalks
came in 1999. In August 2004, Brian formed a
production company with his close friends.
